Odd-jobber

Shhh-shhhh ..... shhh-shhhh ..... shhh-shhhh

An elderly man dragging a metal rake hehind him on the sidewalk announces his presence by the rhythmic shhh-shhhh of metal on concrete. As he comes closer, his rake concert is made more full by the rattle of a can against a chain fence. He looks at my small group a little too directly for comfort and continues his accompaniment as he passes us. I will miss such little scenes when I move away. Yes, I know there will be similar things in Texas, but it's not the same; it's not here.
